Carolina Callin' Me Home

Once again I am entirely overdue for an update. We are now completely (for the most part) moved in to our new house in Sanford NC, doggie n' all. The house is so cozy, and finally feeling like home. Furnishing the place was a bit hectic, but having Kurt's sister here to help was amazing! Basically our days are spent working.. Kurt has work every day until about 5pm when he gets home, and I've been working from home for Delaware Coastal Programs, and taking a micro econ course to get ready for Duke in the fall! We've also been making some awesome slow cooker meals and getting acquainted with the kitchen a bit more...

Even though we've had a lot of visitors, we've managed to have a lot of fun and get a lot done! Kurt and I finally went on our first scuba diving adventure together, off of Beaufort, NC. We went down about 65 feet to the USS Indra, a huge wreck that was sunk as part of the artificial reef program. The visibility was surprisingly good, it looked almost like Florida, especially with the corals growing on the wreck, and the reef fishes. We also saw some huge amber jacks and some pretty intimidating jellyfish. It's nice to know that we can go down and dive in one day! Here's a photo of the Indra way before it was sunk :)

Even though Sanford is a definite change from Pennsylvania/Delaware, I really do like it. It's great to be with Kurt all of the time, and I definitely like the scenery. Most of the open space is woodland, and our backyard is filled with wildlife. Kurt and I also found a pretty great park to go to together, and with Klaus. The only downside is it is SO hot... 95 degrees almost every day this week!
It's even too hot for the pool. Sometimes it does get a little lonely here when Kurt is at work and I'm at home, but yesterday I met and hung out with some other army wives whose husbands are posted at Bragg, which was a lot of fun. Hopefully I didn't scare them off too badly! ;)

Our Puppy: Klaus

So we are so excited about our first addition to the family, that I'm going to prematurely post this! This is Klaus. I was looking online for places near where we will be living, and found the CARA animal shelter, in Sanford NC. Just casually looking through the dogs page, I noticed that one of the dogs' names was Klaus.

Normally, this wouldn't be anything special, BUT... Kurt's middle name is Klaus, and sort of has a funny story behind it! So, it was just fate that his name was Klaus, AND he's a Jack Russell mix (Kurt apparently loves Jack Russells and needs to have a dog with wirey hair to prevent allergies). It turns out that Klaus is a bit young too, only a year old!

I kept an eye on him on the internet for a few weeks, probably even a month, though I doubted he'd still be available when we even had the time to go down.... But, much to my suprise he was still there when we went house hunting in the area, and that's where we got to meet him! Although Klaus felt the need to pee on every tree in the yard where we visited him, he seemed like a very happy boy, and ready to play.. just a little distracted. I think he's been cooped up in those kennels for way too long, so the look of the yard got him in an exploring mood! We also found out that poor Klaus was 'adopted' twice, and people were going to pay for him and pick him up all at once, and never showed up! Poor guy!

When I heard this, I knew we should pay for him in advance, so he, and the volunteers at the shelter would know we meant business :) the other day we put down the payment for his adoption fee, and I went and bought him all kinds of things for when we pick him up on May 19. In addition to a leash and brush, shampoo, etc... I just bought this collar on the internet! I gave Kurt a whole bunch of collar choices, but he picked the one I liked best (not sure if he really liked it the best or was just trying to make me happy, either way, he's a sweety!)

We can't wait to pick him up!

Overdue Update!

It has been so long since I updated this! Here are some pictures from the wedding! Shout out to Becca Stotler, the greatest photographer in the world!

Anywho, the wedding went amazingly smooth! The only regret I have is that it went so quickly! People aren't kidding when they say that you feel like it's over in two seconds! Everything was beautiful, and everyone who was traveling long distances was able to make it on time. I'm so grateful for having such loving friends and family!

In addition to wedding stuff, we're in the process of buying a house in Sanford NC, and we just adopted a year old terrier mix from a local shelter, we're picking him up the week we move in!

Hopefully the moving process goes quickly, right now I'm back at work for a few weeks wrapping things up and getting packed! We also just found out that Kurt wont be deployed for a while, so I'm very excited about that!

Everying is falling into place :)

TGIF!

I'm so excited that it's finally Friday, ANNDD my bachelorette party is tomorrow! I'm so excited! I have no idea where they're taking me, but it's sure to be an amazing day/night. I still have to go out and buy shoes. I bought these rediculous red shoes the other day, thinking they would go great with the dress, but I was mistaken. Booooo. Oh well, I guess I can find somewhere else to wear them!

I've been doing alright with the running actually, and ran at Killens shaving 20 seconds off of my time. It felt pretty good. Forcing myself to run really sucks, but once I'm done I feel so much better. I guess it outweighs the bad in this case.

Other than that, nothing is really new. I can't seem to finish Kurt's birthday present in time for his birthday. I was really a little too ambitious about what I could do in the time given, but I can still give it to him and it will alt least be almost done....

Great Day

I have to say that today was an awesome day!

I was pleasantly suprised, after being tricked into dropping off paperwork across the street, to find my entire office clan in the conference room with all kinds of food and presents for me:) They threw me a mini bridal shower! I was so suprised. It's so nice to feel like people care, I had no expectation what-so-ever other than maybe a card, but they really suprised me! So today I'm gong to buy them cards, after I go and buy myself an outfit for my bachelorette party this weekend (for which I'm SO excited about!)

Also, yesterday (even though it's probably counteracted by my binging on 'bad' foods) I ran the 3.2 miles at Killens Pond in 26 minutes. Now, I know this is no amazing feat, but for me, it's pretty good! I haven't timed myself running in a loooong time (since high school), but I heard that 20-30 minutes is decent, so I'm glad that I can at least keep up with that, and feel a little bit 'in shape'. I'm going to try to keep running it, and get the time down so maybe I could do a few 5k runs in the future!

All in all, this week is shaping up to be really great:)

Crunch Time

Yup, the time is here. 27 days until the big day. WOW!
Definitely exciting! Although, I must say, dealing with guests is the most irritating duty in the world of wedding planning.

I am generally a very laid back bride these past six months, very open to everyone's ideas, wishing I could invite a lot of people instead of wanting to cut back the list, not very picky about specific details, and generally really optimistic.

With that said..... and yes, this will sound bridezilla-ish, but I only have two things to say:

1) If your invitation does not say 'and Guest' or the name of your significant other, you CANNOT have a date. Sorry, but you can't. There are enough people that have been invited to this wedding that you will have a stupendous time, because your group of friends, formed previous to the time that you acquired a new girlfriend/boyfriend, will be there stag as well. I'm sorry, thats just how it is. I know a lot of it is ignorance to wedding etiquette, believe me I've been there, but we just can't afford it given the amount of people in our immediate families, and the size of the rental space. :) k thanks.

2) I am the bride. Please refer all of your logistical questions for how to cart your drunk butt home from the reception, to either my parents or to my lovely maid of honor, who has so kindly stepped up for the job. Love you Jacq!!

All that being said, I love you all!! Just a bit stressed out here :)

I think running helps though, I was pretty excited the other day, I ran the whole killens pondside trail without stopping, 3.2 miles.. which is a big deal for me lately! Hopefully it will cut down on my flabby arms for the wedding!

What a Beautiful Day!

In more ways than one!

Not only is this the first day in practically months that the sun is shining, let alone almost 60 degrees and the birds are chirping, but it is exactly 30 days until our wedding! Hooray!

Today I'm just all around excited and can't wait for everything to get moving! Everything is pretty much completed at this point, and the RSVPs are filtering in! I just wish Kurt and I could move to NC now and be the crazy happy couple we always are when we're together. Like he said today, we deserve it!

I know it's premature, but the picture is the kind of puppy we want, once we get settled. A cairn terrier (Toto from the Wizard of Oz) :)

Happy Tuesday!
